Alaska Medicare Clinic is a 501(c)(3) non-profit outpatient health care clinic located in Anchorage, Alaska. The clinic was founded specifically to address the growing need for primary care services among Medicare-eligible seniors in the state. Since opening in May 2011, it has been dedicated to providing high-quality outpatient care to Alaskans over the age of 65.

The clinic operates out of the O'Malley Square building at 11260 Old Seward Highway, Suite 107, Anchorage, AK 99515. It is staffed by board-certified physicians and advanced nurse practitioners who specialize in primary care for the elderly population.

As a non-profit organization, Alaska Medicare Clinic reinvests all revenue into patient care and clinic operations. The clinic was officially recognized as a 501(c)(3) entity in September 2009 and licensed to do business in Alaska in August 2010, reflecting the careful planning and community support that went into its establishment.

The mission of the clinic extends beyond simply treating illness. The staff works with each patient to develop individualized plans of care that encompass wellness visits, acute care management, and coordination with specialty medical providers throughout the Anchorage community.

Alaska Medicare Clinic primarily serves patients who are enrolled in Medicare, the federal health insurance program for people aged 65 and older. This includes individuals with Medicare Part A and Part B coverage, as well as those enrolled in various Medicare Advantage plans available in Alaska.

Eligibility extends to Alaskans who qualify for Medicare due to age, disability, or other qualifying conditions recognized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The clinic welcomes both new and established Medicare beneficiaries who are seeking a dedicated primary care provider in the Anchorage area.

Patients who are new to Medicare or who have recently moved to Alaska are encouraged to contact the clinic directly to discuss their coverage and schedule an initial appointment. The staff is experienced in navigating Medicare billing and can help patients understand what services are covered under their specific plan.

The clinic also works with patients who may have supplemental insurance or Medigap policies in addition to their Medicare coverage. These additional policies can help cover costs that Medicare alone does not fully pay, such as copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles.

Alaska Medicare Clinic provides comprehensive outpatient primary care services tailored to the needs of Medicare-enrolled seniors. Core services include annual wellness visits, preventive health screenings, chronic disease management, and acute care for illnesses and injuries that do not require hospitalization.

The clinical team manages common conditions affecting older adults, including hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, respiratory conditions, and mental health concerns such as depression and anxiety. Each patient receives an individualized care plan developed in collaboration with their primary provider.

Beyond direct patient care, the clinic coordinates treatment with specialty medical providers throughout the Anchorage community. When patients need care that falls outside the scope of primary medicine, such as cardiology, orthopedics, or oncology, the clinic facilitates referrals and ensures continuity of care between providers.

The clinic also offers patient education on medication management, nutrition, fall prevention, and other topics relevant to healthy aging. These educational resources help patients take an active role in maintaining their health and independence as they age.

Scheduling an appointment at Alaska Medicare Clinic is straightforward. Patients can call the clinic directly at (907) 433-5100 during regular business hours to speak with a member of the scheduling staff. The team will help identify the best appointment type and time based on the patient's needs.

New patients should be prepared to provide their Medicare identification number, any supplemental insurance information, a list of current medications, and contact details for any other healthcare providers they see regularly. This information helps the clinical team prepare for the initial visit and ensures a thorough assessment.

The clinic accepts both scheduled appointments and, when possible, accommodates patients with urgent care needs on a same-day or next-day basis. For non-emergency medical concerns that arise outside of regular office hours, patients are advised to contact the clinic's main phone line for guidance on appropriate care options.

Established patients may also have access to the clinic's patient portal, which allows them to view health records, request prescription refills, and communicate with their care team online. This digital tool adds convenience for patients who prefer managing certain aspects of their healthcare electronically.

Alaska Medicare Clinic works with Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) as its primary billing framework. The clinic is enrolled as a Medicare provider and bills the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services directly for covered services, which means patients with Original Medicare can typically receive care without needing a referral.

For patients enrolled in Medicare Advantage plans (Part C), coverage and requirements may vary depending on the specific plan and insurance carrier. Some Medicare Advantage plans require patients to choose providers within a specific network, while others offer more flexibility. Patients with Medicare Advantage coverage are encouraged to contact both the clinic and their insurance carrier to confirm that the clinic is an in-network provider under their plan.

The clinic also works with various Medigap supplemental insurance policies that help cover out-of-pocket costs associated with Medicare. These supplemental policies can significantly reduce the financial burden on patients by covering copayments, coinsurance amounts, and annual deductibles.

If patients have questions about whether their specific insurance configuration is accepted, the clinic's administrative staff is available to verify coverage before an appointment is scheduled. This proactive approach helps avoid unexpected billing issues and ensures patients can focus on their health rather than paperwork.
